My experience with FromSoftware games

Welcome back to my blog. I have realized that it's been a while since I began my journey with playing FromSoft games. If you have read many of my blog posts before my website got hacked and I deleted all my posts from my previous database by accident, you would know that I love gaming and that is something that I do not want to let go of no matter how tough life gets because it's like a drug to me. I am posting this because I had been playing open-world RPG games for a long time and they weren't difficult at all unless I cranked up the difficulty. A friend of mine had told me that he played the Dark Souls series and he was not into what he was playing at all and that he realized that those games were not for him. I took what he said as a challenge and that I am good at games so I will beat the game and make sure that I will hold up the trophy of finishing the games up high and with pride, little did I know that was could not be further from the truth. The first game made by FromSoftware was Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. This game was cool initially because it reminded me of the cool samurai-themed anime I love to watch such as Samurai Champloo, Samurai 7, and Demon Slayer. I later realized how difficult the game was so I paused on the game for later and played something else.

One day as I was scrolling YouTube like I always do, I eventually came across a YouTube short that talked about how great Bloodborne was. Being intrigued by this short video, and looking at some online reviews I thought to myself that it should be the game that I should get. I looked online, saw where I could get the game, and drove out to collect it. Once I got home, I popped the game into my console and began my journey. 30 mins into the game and I am already pulling my hair out. This damn wolf is kicking my ass and I am losing serious hope after an hour of fighting this monster. I gave in and ran away, only to realize that it was part of the game to die against your first enemy. I ended up in a place called Yharnam a dark, hopeless, metropolis with monster/zombie-looking citizens who are trying to fight whatever has taken over their city including me, who happens to be the good guy. So in my pursuit of getting further in the game, I only ended up getting to the fourth main boss in the story, Vicar Amelia.

Soon after fighting her for the 4th time, I was done with the game. The fun was down to zero, the game angered me and I hated how tough the boss fights were and the setup of how hidden the story was. Normally what would motivate me in a video game is to see what happens next in a game by completing tasks but with Bloodborne, I was struggling to see it. I envy how people enjoy the game and feel that it's the best FromSoft game developed.
